The Scientific Society of Sharia and Law Faculties held its first meeting at the U of HQIS. The meeting was honored by the attendance of Prof. Ahmed Saeed Salman, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Abbas Al Aa’lim, the Principal of the University, Dr. Ali Assaiyid, the Union of Sudanese Universities Assistant Secretary General, Dr. Taj Assr Ali, Head of Counterpart Faculties Committee, and deans of Sudanese Faculties of Shari'a and Law.
Prof. Salman confirmed the importance of this society and its social and academic role in developing faculties of Sharia and Law adding that it targets establishment of faculties to realize its sets objectives.
On his part, Dr. Ali Assaiyid, the Union of Sudanese Universities Assistant Secretary General, called for perfecting coordination and cooperation between these faculties and endeavoring to promote their programs where he expressed his thanks to the University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences for hosting the meeting pointing to the university’s leading position in Sudan.
In the same context, Dr. Taj Assr Ali, Head of Counterparts Faculties Committee said that the meeting seeks to realize development and exchange of experiences between counterpart faculties in Sudan as it is also expected to enhance opportunities of scientific research and exchange of academic staff and students for faculty of Graduate Studies.
The meeting has agreed on appointing Dr. Mahmoud Hamouda Salih, Dean of Faculty of Sharia and Law at the International University of Africa as Head of the Society, Dr. Ali Abd Allah Al-Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Shari'a at the University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences as Secretary General, and Dr. Abd Allah Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Law at University of Bahri as Financial Secretary.
The meeting concluded a number of recommendations included establishment of a web page at the Union of Sudanese Universities website, peer-reviewed academic journal for publication of legal researches, and organizing academic conferences and research competitions for students and academic staff members at Sudanese Faculties of Shari'a and Law.
